I truly believe in the importance of life drawing. Anything you can draw, you can paint, and nothing matches the rigour of making sure you get along to life drawing at least once a week and practice your drawing. Why the nude? Because it's difficult, beautiful, and pushes you hard. During 2011 and 2012, when I was studying at QCA, I was fortunate enough to be able to attend 8-10 hours of life drawing every week, under the tutorship of the magnificent Dr. Kay Kane. She taught me the tools of analytical drawing, which I now use every time I draw anything. It's not magic, it's maths- and a wonderful celebration of the human form.
